PASSION
Oil on linen 120 x 120 cm
With a deep red color and a bold face, the artist depicts passion, the inextinguishable flame in every artist's heart. He describes it in the most profound way, not only in its carnality, but as a life force that hovers in the soul, between exaltation and torment. A vortex of profound obsession that binds us in both material and spiritual terms. The strength of life itself, that grit that drives us to fight every day for something or someone, allowing us to be reborn and rise beyond our limitations.
Observing the painting, one realizes that nothing has been left to chance, from the color scheme to the lighting, right down to the geometry of the figure itself. The model in the drawing resembles a pyramid, or a flame. The color scheme is based on a full spectrum of reds, even in the shadows and highlights of the face. The lighting is strong and creates great contrast.
As with all of Marino's portraits, the gaze is a central element. It shows a careful selection of the model, because he doesn't want just a mannequin, but a person whose eyes perfectly embody his feelings.
