EVE
In this drawing, created entirely with pencil, the artist depicts Eve, the first woman, a symbol of life and death. While she is the mother of us all, she is also the symbol of transgression and sin. Here, she is used as a figure to describe the original threat in its three main aspects: seduction, deception, and desire. Indeed, the woman represents seductive beauty, the serpent deceit and lies, and the apple represents the great desire: lust. Among these three elements, we note that the apple is the only colored subject. This is because it represents the soul, the heart of the work, and the artist wanted to emphasize this, almost as if everything else were merely an extension of it.
